An institutional critique performance from November 2014, my third year at the School of Visual Arts.
Modelled after Janine Antoni's 'Loving Care' piece from 1993, the piece is a critique of the institution's policies and administrative measures. The appropriation of an intimate work by a feminist icon and the substitution of hair dye for milk highlight the sacred nature of performance, while the male performer who mops up the piece as it is being birthed makes clear the impossible nature of creating work in an institution that prevents it.
